Well... the theme of this essay is well-founded. But your obvious bias toward the Autobots makes taking this completely seriously somewhat difficult.
While I agree that Decepticon leaders are and should be self-reliant, having a matrix would not necessarily make them not. "Any striving to control or possess the Matrix, would ultimately weaken the Decepticon strength of character." --It would depend on why and how they strive to possess it. Personally, I believe it might and can strengthen their resolve; even if the Matrix does nothing for them, it's at least a symbol of wisdom and power for them to 'believe' in, and thus further their strength and character.
