Date: 08/06/04 Title: Chapter 1: Waspinator's Day Off
I'm so torn. On the one hand this is a rather well written story, on the other hand, I've always felt Waspinator copped a raw deal. Poor, poor, Waspinator - he can't even catch a break in the fan fiction!
Green Valley by derik
Rated: G • Summary: Runabout and Runamuck are evil, psychopathic Decepticons who like to make things explode. Hilarity ensues.

I loved this piece. I'm a shameless fan of Runamuck, I'll admit, but it's more than the focus of this story that appeals to me. I love the way this is cleverly written to make the Battlechargers more than incidental comedic relief. The author puts a method and meaning to their mayhem, which I really appreciated.

Rated: G • Summary: I go temporarily insane as I contemplate a Japanese Beast Machines export, or at least the resulting accompanying manga. "He is Magmatron. Now he makes his appearance ... and Magmatron laughs the laugh that will be heard again."
The Odyssey Begins by Philister
Rated: G • Summary: The war on Cybertron has stagnated to a bloody stalemate when the supercomputer Vector Sigma becomes active again, sending a group of three young Autobots and one bitter veteran into space to locate the Ark and the long-lost Autobot leader Optimus Prime.
Date: 08/06/04 Title: Chapter 1: The Odyssey Begins
I like the fact that this story deals, indirectly, with the movie cast (Hot Rod, Arcee and co). Specifically I'm glad the author is giving a reason for why the old, experienced, Kup suddenly "appears" during TF:TM. The link established between Arcee and the other Autobot femmes in the cartoon is also a nice touch. My only gripe is the tendency to refer to Autobots as "people" instead of "robots".
The Ambush by Philister
Rated: G • Summary: Kup, Springer, Hot Rod, and Arcee set off on their journey to find the Ark and Optimus Prime. The Decepticons have other ideas, though, and might put an end to the Odyssey before it has even begun.

A good second installment, which follows nicely from the first, and improves on it. As any multi-part story should, it's left me eagerly awaiting the next episode.
