Author's Note: Alright, after what feels like forever, here is my first *completed* story. Just a small ficlet, but it was fun to write. I will have an additional note at the end of the story. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own the Decepticons. It would be nice if I did, but I don't, they belong to Hasbro. This is all done for my amusement and hopefully the amusement of others. Don't sue me, guys. I'm poor.
"Brute Force"
On many occasions I have been asked what my men and I could have possibly done to be worthy of having our minds trapped in a detention center. A rebellious nature against Megatron's rule we may have, but it is hardly reason to be removed of your body and locked away for countless millennia. And I am not even sure that that was the true reason we were put there.
We were condemned for being "treacherous" in the optics of the Decepticon commander. But what does treachery truly mean anymore when the air commander of the troops gets away with doing things on a daily basis that should have been worthy of severe punishment several times over? I certainly don't recall me or my soldiers ever behaving so brashly. We may not have always agreed with Megatron but I do not believe he would have rid himself of good warriors for that reason alone.
He screamed false accusations at us on the day of our sentencing and again upon learning of our release by the hands of Starscream. I admire Megatron's bravado. He could bluff his way into winning the war if he put his metaphorical heart to it. But I don't suppose I'll ever get a truthful and correct answer for our damnation out of the Decepticon leader this way.
But there is much speculation among the Decepticons as for the real reason we were put in our prison of minds. Some say it was an assassination attempt on Megatron's life. Others say we were plotting behind his back to overthrow him. And then still more think we were in a secret allegiance with the Autobot. None of these are true, and that last rumor was downright absurd. I may not be very fond of Megatron's leadership, but I am no Autobot, nor are any of my men. We were remarkably well-established soldiers in the vast army of the Decepticons and I trust my men would never plan ulterior motives without consulting me. We are all part of a grand warrior and share his mind and our own. It is not like I wouldn't have discovered it in their thoughts if they were plotting something.
However, I do have my own speculation as to why Megatron really did lock us away. Call it arrogance if you wish, but I believe Megatron was afraid of our power. Alone and separate, each of us can hold our own, but we can easily be picked off and are no match for Megatron. But then we have our supreme warrior. The giant being that towers over all when all five of us join together. He who is a combination of what makes the best out of all of us and is raw destructive power. "A true brute of a machine' he was called and is what ultimately earned him his name. And I'll admit that it very much suits him. He is a force to be reckoned with and Primus pity those that should stand in his way. And Megatron knew this. Not even his strongest warrior, Devestator, was a match for us and our powerhouse.
And though it is perhaps a pleasing thought to be known as unstoppable and unmatchable, Megatron might have felt unsafe in his position with the likes of us around. And what better way to return his confidence than to be rid of the potential threat? It is an understandable answer, however weak it may be. But perhaps Megatron was never as strong a leader as everyone believed him to be.
Even now, he hides behind his children, the Stunticons, hoping they will protect him from the big bad monster of a machine. Such impetuous idiots they are. My men and I curse ourselves for being so foolish and letting their warrior, Menasor, sneak up on us that day. Defeated by a group of youthful, inexperienced punks. We should have known better.
Megatron insists that Menasor is stronger than our warrior. Perhaps he is. Perhaps he is not. I would hate to think that a bunch of newly created brats have more tricks up their sleeves, to use the human expression, than a bunch of war torn veterans. But with all the advanced technology the Decepticons have harbored years since our imprisonment, it would not be surprising that they were just built to be better than us. And maybe it is just pride that keeps me from believing that. It is difficult to accept anything else when you were once considered unstoppable. But I would find it highly amusing if Megatron's "unbeatable warrior" one day decided to turn against him. They don't seem to be very respectful of their creator as it is.
But I probably would not have hated Megatron so much if he had never locked me and my comrades away. Perhaps we could have even grown to a common understanding and respect for one another. I suppose I still respect Megatron to some magnitude. One has to when they are dealing with the being that claims leadership over an army whose power spreads across the very galaxy.
But it is so hard to maintain that frame of mind when your leader has so little respect for you. I assume if situations were different, if we were no longer at constant battle with the Autobots, it would be back to the detention center for my comrades and I in his mind. Though if that should arise in the future, I do believe I won't give him the honor of going peacefully. If he wants me and my men-if he wants "the brute of a machine'-he would have to come and get him. For Bruticus does not go down without a fight.
Onslaught stood up from behind his hiding location near a large rock and with all the strength he could muster, lobbed a large water-filled balloon at the back of an oblivious Motormaster's head. The Stunticon leader let out a startled cry in response.
"That's for the Las Vegas situation, you bastard. Combaticons! Attack!"
The rest of the Combaticons appeared out of various hiding spots and began to follow suite in tossing water-filled projectiles at the Stunticons, a chorus of battle cries in their wake. Their confused and surprised opponents scattered in an effort to escape the attack. Random shots flew haphazardly through the air in unsuccessful attempts to shoot the balloon-flinging marauders. But efforts became futile with the delivery of several orbs full of water to the face. There was no escape.
Megatron stormed out onto the field to find his Stunticon warriors stumbling idiotically around as Combaticons chased after them with large colorful liquid-filled orbs. His face contorted with anger at the sight. He voice rang out loudly above the skirmish in an attempt to stop it. He would have none of this.
"Stop! Stop this foolishness right this instant! I said stop! Now!" Megatron reinforced his threat with a blast from his fusion cannon exploding into the sky. However, he did not take into consideration the patch of ground he stood upon which had been soaked by the contents of the balloons.
A shout of surprise escaped Megatron as he slipped across the puddle of mud beneath him, tumbling to the ground with all the grace of a dancing elephant. Scowling, the Decepticon leader proceeded to pick himself up out of the mud while shouting vulgarities at the still fighting rival teams. However, his swearing nor his attempt to stand back up would last as a stray water balloon blindsided the commander, knocking him back into the pool of wet dirt.
Some distance away, Onslaught laughed smugly to himself.
I may not know if Megatron will ever give me the answer I wish to hear for all those countless years of imprisonment. I may not ever get to hear him dignify me with words of respect. And I may never see him admit that Bruticus is as powerful as he ever could have hoped for. But I will most certainly make sure he dislikes every second of my existence until the day I get exactly that.

More Author's Comments: No, I don't know where they got water balloons. Probably Swindle got them from someone. But they needed something silly to throw.
As for Las Vegas, that's an entirely different story that you'll have to wait for. :)
