1. Dark And Gritty by Steven_Acevedo
Footnote: The opinions express do not necessarily jive with everyone else's. But remember as a fan of Transformers there's a difference in wanting respect and demanding it outright.

With the continuing talk of Transformers being made into a live action movie some fans seem to get the impression that because it will be live action that it should be dark and gritty. Dark and gritty from my perspective will NOT work for this film and won't change the dynamics of the toys or tv series. Transformers is not Shakespeare nor is it suppose to be.
The first movie which was animated had a PG-13 rating but the only thing it did was erase characters that should not have been erased in the first place. It did make The Decepticons seem more vicious but fans of Megatron and Starscream probably saw them as "Freedom Fighters" for their "independence". Striving for freedom is one thing. Taking whatever you want and whoever you want only shows a villain not even following his own desires of being free when he makes someone else a prisoner. It's a poor way to show how mature a show or movie should be.
The problem with being an adult watching cartoons is that you over clock your mind trying to look for a "reasonable" explanations to all of it. You don't use your imagination enough when gaps are not immediately answered - and when they are it's not to your liking.
I'm sure it's well and important for the "adult" fandom to feel that they make up the chunk for Hasbro's continuing success. But overall it is still the little kids who snatch the toys with wide-eyed wonder as opposed to a grown up person looking for the details and mechanics of how to produce the thing.
Truth be told, again and again I find that the segment of the fandom is futility trying too hard to make the general public see The Transformers the way they do. But as we often learn. These kinds of things are more of an acquired taste rather than the norm.
Too many cooks spoil the broth so to speak. Any attempt to give out suggestions to the producers putting together this film will be ignored for the bigger picture which is selling this as a mass appeal movie rather than one solely for the fans alone. There will be nods here and there but that's about all this cinema piece will do. Any "realism" will be left behind for the fantastic.
One other matter I should bring up before I forget. I don't come to the movies to do a lot of thinking or worrying about the world around me. I have enough of it to last me a lifetime. I don't want to be suffocated by it any more than I need to.
So to those looking for this movie to be a serious dark epic. Go see something else because you won't get it from The Transformers live action movie.
