Of the many Nightbird stories I've read, this tale in particular stands out because it is not only richly original, but extremely well-balanced with regards to Nightbird, Megatron and the "S" word (sentience.) Nightbird's behavior in this story is appropriately subtle and mysterious, and the structure of the story is built on gentle logic that works towards a delightful and believable ending.
